Med City FC is proud to announce the signing of three more players to the 2017 roster.
Fredrik Mansson is a defender currently playing for University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima, Ohio. Mansson, from Skene, Sweden, played for a local Swedish club, Skene IF, before moving across the Atlantic Ocean to the United States so he could combine soccer development with studies.
Off the pitch, what do you like to do for fun?
Matias: “When I’m not playing soccer, I like to travel and spend time with my family and friends.”
Why did you start playing soccer?
Nacho: “I started playing soccer when I was eight because my uncle and grandfather are passionate for the game. We used to watch every game together, either at home or in the stadium. They were the main reason why I started playing the beautiful game.”
Who or which team do you find your soccer inspiration?
Fredrik: “I would say I find inspiration from two Swedish players. Of course, like every other Swede, the first is one of the greatest players of all time – Zlatan Ibrahimovic. It’s very impressive to be 35 years old and still deliver at a top level as one of the best. The other player is Ludwig Augustinsson, a Swedish leftback who plays for FC Copenhagen. I appreciate his dedication to the sport. He takes excellent care of his body through nutrition and training. He invests in his development and does everything he can to reach as far as he can. This inspires me and makes me want to be even better at taking care of myself and invest in my football development.”
What excites you the most about playing for Med City FC?
Nacho: “The thing that excites me the most is the opportunity to keep playing soccer after graduation. After playing four years at college, I want to take my game to the next level and focus 100 percent on soccer. I feel I have a great chance to do it. I am also very excited about playing for Coach Corey. I really like his goals for this coming season, and that made my final decision much easier.”
Matias: “Med City FC is the best place for me to keep developing as a player. I’m sure we will have a very competitive team and will do great things.”
Fredrik: “I am excited to play in an excellent environment for developing as a player. I also look forward to experiencing more American culture and being a part of the Med City and Rochester communities.”
