Med City FC announces three more international players

Med City FC is excited to announce three more additions to our inaugural season roster.

Jose Pizarro, from San Jose, Costa Rica, began playing soccer when he was six years old. He’s played on multiple youth category teams. Currently, Jose plays as a midfielder for the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima, Ohio, a top ranked men’s soccer program within the NAIA.

Pepe Cejudo, from Mexico City, Mexico, currently plays for the University of Northwestern Ohio. During his first season, he scored 11 goals, had six assists, and was named to the First Team All-Conference. Pepe has previously played for Atlante FC U-16 in Mexico, and Levante FC U-17 and U-18 in Spain.

Jake Turnbull, from Newcastle, England, comes to Med City FC from Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky, where he transferred after playing for Salem International University, Division II of the NCAA. Before coming to the United States, he played semi-professional soccer in 5th tier of English soccer for the Blyth Spartans.

Off the pitch, what do you like to do for fun?

Pepe: “I enjoy watching soccer matches in the Spanish or English League because they have the best soccer players in the world. I also like to hang out with my friends and play FIFA, watch all kinds of movies and read books.”

Why did you start playing soccer?
Jake: “I started playing soccer after watching my father play. When I turned five years old, he took me to my first football training session and I’ve played ever since.”

Who or which team do you find your soccer inspiration?
Jose: “All my life I’ve been a strong fan of Real Madrid, even more now because of Keylor Navas. I like the way they play – well set in defense and extremely fast in the transition to attack.”

What excites you the most about playing for Med City FC?
Pepe: “I’m excited to play for Med City FC because it’s a new team, and I would like to help make a good first season. I’m also excited to start the season because of the professionalism of Med City FC, all of its staff and to experience my first NPSL season. I’m sure it’s going to be a great season.”

Jake: “The thing that excites me the most about playing for Med City FC is the opportunity to work with Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine and use their facilities, as well as the chance to win a conference title in the club’s first year of operating.”

Jose: “This is going to be my first experience playing outside of the college level. I like new experiences. For Med City FC, it will also be the first season, so helping the team gain prestige and have a great season is what excites me the most.”
