Jared Wolt, born in Nagoya, Japan, is from Farmington, Minnesota. He currently attends Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, in Winona, Minnesota, where he plays soccer and runs track and field. Jared is majoring in mathematics with a minor in sports business.

Off the pitch, what do you like to do for fun?
James: “I love the outdoors and enjoy hiking, camping, whitewater rafting and one day I want to get into rock climbing.”

Why did you start playing soccer?
Tiernan: “My dad introduced me to the game when I was about three years old. He helped me develop a love for the game from coaching me at a young age and always pushed me to do better. My classmates and dearest friends are also soccer fanatics, so I have been around people who have been talking about playing soccer their entire lives.”

Who or which team do you find your soccer inspiration?
Jared: “My favorite player is Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez. He knows where to be at the right time, which is how he scores a lot of goals. My favorite team is Manchester United. Their history in the way they’ve played amazes me and I’ve always loved Sir Alex.”

Javier: “My father is my main inspiration whenever I practice and play each game. He is the one who taught me what I know about this game and I’m really thankful for it. Also, Cristiano Ronaldo is my favorite player. I like to use him as a role model because of the dedication and hard work he has put into this sport since he was very young. Being away from your family to pursue your dreams is never easy, and he taught us that no matter what you always have to follow your dreams, but always with effort and hard work.”

What excites you the most about playing for Med City FC?
Tiernan: “Definitely developing my game. Coaches Luke and Dusty are very skilled and knowledgeable players of the game and I know that I will be able to learn a lot. It’s very exciting to have a club here in Rochester, and it will be awesome to see how much support we get from the community and how many people turn out for the games.”

Javier: “As a new team, I’m sure they have big projects in mind. I’m really looking forward to help this team reach all the objectives they have in mind next to my new teammates and coaches, so we can make all the fans from Rochester happy and proud.”

James: “I am excited to continue my competitive soccer career as well as getting involved in the Rochester community.”

Jared: “I’m really excited to get to know the guys on the team and compete in the league. This is the first year of Med City so I’m hoping to be a part of a great inaugural season for the club!”
